COVID-19 Google Ads Credit

March 31, 2020

In this episode of the Pest Control Internet Marketing Podcast, Andy explains the latest COVID-19 Google Ads credit. He talks about what it means, who will benefit from it, and how long it is going to be applicable.

Important tips for internet marketers.
These are the things you should do to show your customers that you are taking this crisis seriously and genuinely care about them:

  1. Make sure you have a Covid-19 clear statement on your website and landing pages. It may be a banner or a pop-up (taking precautions, social distancing, masks, gloves, etc.).
  2. If your ads are performing well on Google Ads, which they probably are, do not change anything since it might affect your performance. You should, however, add an account-wide callout extension.

What is the Google Covid-19 ad credit?
Google has allocated $340 million credit for the rest of 2020 as an ad credit to be offered primarily to small and mid-sized businesses. This means that you can receive a portion of this credit if you fall under the said category- which pest control arguably belongs to- and have been advertising with Google since the beginning of 2019 or earlier.

It is unclear how an account’s eligibility will be affected, especially if you had paused it for a long time. This information will be found directly on your Google Ads notification and/ or the Gmail account associated with your account.

The credit will be rolled out in the coming months and you’ll be able to use the credit up until December 31st, 2020. This will be a credit and not a refund, meaning that it is to be used for future ad services, and it’s applicable to all Google platforms.

Make sure that you keep checking for notifications on your account.
